Arrest Made in 1998 'Baby Callum' Murder Case: Woman Charged 25 Years Later
April 15, 2024
Joanne Sharkey, 54, from Liverpool, has been charged with the 1998 murder of 'Baby Callum', a newborn found strangled and beaten near a Warrington theme park.
Baby Callum was only a few hours old and his body was discovered wrapped in plastic.
Sharkey will appear in custody at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
A man previously arrested in connection with the case has been released without charge.
Authorities have called for public restraint to avoid prejudicing Sharkey's right to a fair trial.
The local community had previously held a funeral for Baby Callum and he is buried in Warrington Cemetery.
