A major accident on the A1M near Pontefract in West Yorkshire resulted in 17 injuries, including South Shields FC fans.

The minibus carrying the fans collided with a black Skoda Fabia and an unidentified white car, leading to the minibus overturning.

Out of the injured, seven individuals sustained serious injuries and all were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

South Shields FC has expressed concern for the well-being of their fans following the collision.

Authorities are actively investigating the crash, seeking evidence such as dash cam footage to determine its cause.

The incident occurred after the football team suffered a loss in their penultimate match of the season and led to the closure of the motorway until Sunday morning.
