Humberside Police in Hull are investigating Legacy Independent Funeral Directors after discovering ashes from 35 bodies earlier this year.

DNA testing on the ashes has been unsuccessful, causing distress for families unable to identify their loved ones.

Detectives have contacted 163 families linked to the funeral home and are offering to return the remains.

One family found their loved one's body among 34 others, while another man received the wrong ashes for his wife's cremation.

Over 2,000 calls related to the investigation have been received, and two people have been arrested.

Efforts to identify and locate next of kin are ongoing, with the police prioritizing informing and supporting the impacted families.
