Khalid Abdalla, known for his role in The Crown, has been summoned for a formal police interview by the Metropolitan Police concerning a pro-Palestinian protest.

He announced the police summons on Instagram, revealing that he received a letter inviting him to the interview alongside other participants, including 87-year-old Holocaust survivor Stephen Kapos.

The protest, organized by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, took place in Whitehall and was altered to a static rally due to police-imposed restrictions aimed at preventing disruptions.

This rally drew tens of thousands of attendees, coinciding with a ceasefire announcement between Israel and Hamas amidst ongoing violence in Gaza.

Abdalla has expressed concerns about the UK government's increasing restrictions on the right to protest, particularly regarding issues related to Palestine.

As of now, 21 individuals have been charged in connection with the protest, with police having arrested 77 people for allegedly breaching conditions set for the event.

The Palestine Coalition has condemned the police's actions, alleging an attempt to suppress public protest related to Palestine solidarity efforts.

Prominent figures, including former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and shadow chancellor John McDonnell, have also been questioned by police regarding the same protest.

During the protest, police claimed that demonstrators attempted to breach their lines, a claim that organizers and attendees vehemently deny.

Abdalla has been an outspoken advocate for Gaza, previously signing an open letter criticizing the BBC for removing a documentary about Gaza's children.

He emphasized the importance of defending the right to protest and condemned censorship of pro-Palestinian voices on social media.

The police have sent letters to various activists, including Abdalla and Kapos, alleging breaches of protest conditions during the rally.
