Deeside Timberframe has launched a multi-million-pound investment program aimed at scaling the delivery of sustainable housing in the UK.
David Hopkins, CEO of Timber Development UK, emphasized that these investments reflect confidence in the timber frame sector and its potential for a sustainable housing future.
He praised the investments as a sign of confidence in the timber frame sector's role in achieving housing and sustainability targets.
The investment program focuses on increasing manufacturing capacity, improving production efficiency, and integrating sustainable practices throughout operations.
A major component of the investment includes a 5,500 square foot factory extension at the Throsk manufacturing facility, which will house an automated wall production line to enhance productivity.
New machinery, such as a Hundegger Turbo-Drive Saw and AV Birch Magna Truss Press, is being integrated to improve design and manufacturing processes, thereby increasing supply chain resilience and quality control.
As part of its Net Zero strategy, the Throsk site now features a 108kW solar panel installation, which is expected to generate 90,000 kWh annually, covering over one third of its energy needs.
Ongoing upgrades at the Throsk facility include enhancements to logistics infrastructure, office space, welfare facilities, and updated design software for improved design accuracy.
To support its strategic growth, Deeside Timberframe has opened a new office in Warrington to enhance client relationships and assist developers and housing associations across the UK.
This investment aligns with the UK Government's target of constructing 1.5 million new homes over the next five years, emphasizing innovation and sustainability.
Andrew Orriss, CEO of the Structural Timber Association, noted that such investments not only support government housing ambitions but also create skilled jobs in the timber sector.
Managing Director David Crawford highlighted the growing demand for sustainable housing and the crucial role of timber frame construction in meeting these needs.
