A 15-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl are set to be sentenced for the manslaughter of 80-year-old Bhim Kohli, who was brutally attacked while walking his dog in Franklin Park, Braunstone Town, Leicestershire.

The teenagers were convicted at Leicester Crown Court in April 2025 after a trial that revealed they assaulted Mr. Kohli on September 1, 2024, leading to his death.

During the trial, the boy claimed he acted out of 'instinct' during a tussle, while the girl filmed parts of the attack and laughed.

Mr. Kohli suffered severe injuries, including a broken neck and fractured ribs, as a result of being kicked, punched, and racially abused.

Following their convictions, the boy was remanded in custody, while the girl was granted conditional bail pending sentencing.

In a letter written two months after the attack, the boy expressed feelings of guilt and remorse, acknowledging the wrongness of his actions.

Susan Kohli, Mr. Kohli's daughter, expressed the family's devastation over his brutal death, highlighting his legacy as a devoted family man and respected community member.
