The police aim to recover and reinvest assets into community support and crime prevention, utilizing legislation like POCA.
The funds, originating from a Coinbase cryptocurrency account, were laundered through bank accounts and used for extravagant lifestyles, including private jets, hotels, property, and fast cars.
Police have seized £180,000 from Andrew Tate following court proceedings that revealed he paid for a special edition Aston Martin through tax evasion and money laundering.
The investigation traced £21 million of Tate brothers' funds between 2014 and 2022, which was laundered through multiple bank and cryptocurrency accounts to conceal its origins and fund their lavish lifestyle.
The funds used for the Aston Martin deposit in July 2021 originated from a Coinbase cryptocurrency account linked to Tate's business activities, with no tax or VAT paid.
The cryptocurrency funds, including those in a Coinbase account, were purchased with money derived from Tate’s business activities, and no tax or VAT was paid on them.
Judge Goldspring previously confirmed the Tate brothers engaged in long-standing tax evasion and dishonest financial conduct, leading to the seizure of funds in bank and cryptocurrency accounts.
The court granted account freezing and asset forfeiture orders at Westminster Magistrates' Court on August 14, following Tate’s non-opposition.
The seized funds, obtained through these court orders, will benefit communities, victims, and vulnerable people, supporting local causes and crime prevention under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
Detective Superintendent Jon Bancroft emphasized the police's success in demonstrating the Tate brothers’ criminal activities and their ongoing commitment to pursue criminal funds.
This investigation showcases the police’s ability to tackle complex financial crimes across borders and support local good causes with seized assets.
Andrew Tate faces a civil trial next summer over claims of rape and sexual violence, and is under investigation in Romania for trafficking minors, sexual assault, and money laundering.
