August 29, 2025
Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations, a renowned global event, will return this year after last year's cancellation due to high winds, offering a vibrant lineup of music, fireworks, and festivities to ring in 2026.
The festival, organized by Unique Assembly, highlights the significance of the event as an international New Year’s tradition, with a series of key events including a torchlight procession on December 29, a Night Afore Concert on December 30 featuring Peat and Diesel and RuMac, and indoor ceilidh events.
The celebrations will culminate on December 31 with the Concert in the Gardens, headlined by Grammy-winning band Wet Leg, performing hits in front of thousands at the Ross Bandstand in Princes Street Gardens, with a spectacular fireworks display over Edinburgh Castle.
Hamish Hawk, a celebrated Scottish artist, will perform at the event, expressing excitement about sharing the stage with Wet Leg during this significant year for his career.
The Hogmanay event will feature a midnight fireworks display over Edinburgh Castle, with tickets available from 10am on September 2, and will be hosted by comedian Susie McCabe, who will lead the countdown into 2026.
The celebration will take place at the Ross Bandstand in West Princes Street Gardens, offering spectacular views of the fireworks and an electrifying musical set to welcome the new year.
Edinburgh Council’s Margaret Graham emphasized the global significance of the event, highlighting the strong Scottish lineup and the unique experience of fireworks over Edinburgh Castle.
Tickets for the Concert in the Gardens will go on sale on September 2, starting at £73, with early access available through pre-registration on the official Hogmanay website, and the event will be hosted by comedian Susie McCabe.
In addition, tickets for the New Year’s Eve event, featuring a fireworks display from Edinburgh Castle and hosted by Susie McCabe, will also be available from September 2, with general sales online and early access starting September 1 for registered attendees.
Wet Leg, known for their infectious hits and chart-topping albums, will make their Edinburgh Hogmanay debut, performing energetic sets beneath Edinburgh Castle, supported by local artists Hamish Hawk and Lucia & The Best Boys.
After cancellations in 2024 due to extreme weather, Edinburgh’s Hogmanay festival will run from December 29 to 31, 2025, with a packed four-day schedule of events.
Last year’s street party was canceled due to stormy weather and high winds, marking the fifth time in history the event was called off for safety reasons, making this year’s return particularly notable.
