YouTube star TommyInnit, also known as Tom Simons, is hosting the UK's first charity livestream for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) on October 18, inspired by the passing of fellow Minecraft streamer Technoblade from cancer.

During the event, viewers will participate in an interactive mystery game called The Curious Case of the Copper Key, where donations will unlock clues, with an initial fundraising goal of £150,000 to reveal the final piece.

Simons has been open about his own mental health struggles, including anxiety and depression, and views this event as a way to foster connection and support among young people facing similar issues.

Funds raised will support GOSH's Build It. Beat It. campaign, which aims to raise £300 million to build a new children’s cancer centre with advanced operating theatres and an improved hospital school, increasing treatment capacity for 20% more patients.

The new centre will significantly enhance pediatric cancer care by expanding hospital capacity, adding new operating theatres, and upgrading the hospital school.

While the initial fundraising target is £150,000, the broader goal of the campaign is to raise £300 million to support the development of this state-of-the-art children’s cancer centre.

A recent visit to GOSH allowed Simons to interact with children affected by illness, highlighting the importance of having relatable role models like Technoblade, who shared similar experiences.

During his visit, Simons emphasized the significance of role models for young people facing health challenges, especially after seeing children admire Technoblade, who had battled cancer.
