Sporting Equals has launched MenoFit, a national UK initiative dedicated to supporting women through menopause, with a focus on ethnic and cultural inclusivity.

MenoFit is a movement created to challenge societal neglect of menopause, emphasizing health, inclusion, and cultural equity, and is co-designed with women who have lived experience to ensure its relevance and effectiveness.

The programme was launched in London and aims to support 250 women from Black, South Asian, and other ethnically diverse backgrounds by combining physical activity, education, and community engagement to address inequalities in menopause awareness and care.

Michelle Griffith-Robinson, a former Olympian and menopause ambassador, shared her personal menopause journey, highlighting the unique challenges faced by Black women and the importance of open conversations around these issues.

The initiative underscores significant disparities in menopause experiences among different ethnic groups, such as Black women experiencing menopause two years earlier than white women and facing barriers like stigma, language, and lack of research representation.

Nik Trivedi, Acting CEO of Sporting Equals, stressed that true inclusion requires intentional design and that empowering women can have a positive ripple effect on entire communities.

MenoFit aims to generate evidence to influence national policy, workplace practices, and healthcare systems, fostering systemic change for more inclusive menopause support.

The programme offers weekly online physical activity sessions, monthly in-person gatherings, menopause education workshops, and peer-led digital support networks, all designed to remove barriers such as travel, language, and cultural stigma.
