October 26, 2026
Additional safety and security improvements have been completed since the station opened.
Essex County Council and Chelmsford City Council officials emphasized Beaulieu Park station as a catalyst for infrastructure-led growth, especially supporting the Chelmsford Garden Community development.
Beaulieu Park station exceeded expectations in its first year, recording over 800,000 journeys, more than double the initial forecast of 290,000–390,000.
Local integration includes a new bus interchange and upgraded cycling and walking routes to surrounding areas, with close proximity to the A12 to ease city congestion and serve nearby communities.
GBR Anglia has unified its leadership across c2c, Greater Anglia, and Network Rail Anglia to boost collaboration and enable third-party investment and delivery.
Volunteer station adopters contribute to the station’s appeal through flower displays.
The station features include eight ticket machines, step-free access, three platforms with a bi-directional central loop line, 500 free covered bike spaces plus secure paid storage, two car parks for more than 700 vehicles, and roof-mounted solar panels.
Rob Mullen of GBR Anglia said the first-year figures show strong community acceptance and underscore the value of investing in better rail services.
The station project aims to transform transport in north Chelmsford, relieve pressure on Chelmsford Central, and support up to 10,000 new homes at the Chelmsford Garden Community.
Funding totaled £141 million from the Government’s Housing and Infrastructure Fund (led by Essex County Council) and £34 million from local partners, including £12 million from the South East Local Enterprise Partnership and £22 million from Countryside and L&Q via a developer contribution agreement.
