Following the cancellation of Tenacious D's latest tour due to a controversial comment made by bandmate Kyle Gass, Jack Black has addressed the band's future.

In an interview with Variety, Black assured fans that Tenacious D would return, emphasizing the need for a break, stating, 'Everybody needs a break sometime.'

The decision to cancel the tour was prompted by Gass's joke about a shooting incident at a Donald Trump rally, which drew significant backlash.

Black made these remarks while promoting his new movie, Borderlands, where he stars alongside Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Expressing his surprise, Black stated he was 'blindsided' by Gass's comment and condemned hate speech and political violence.

Despite the controversy, Black confirmed that his friendship with Gass remains intact, indicating they would return when it feels appropriate.

Following the incident, Black announced that all future creative plans for Tenacious D were on hold, expressing gratitude for the support from fans.

Before the cancellation, Tenacious D had planned a fall tour to benefit Rock the Vote, with shows scheduled leading up to the 2024 presidential election.

Gass later apologized for his 'inappropriate' joke, acknowledging it as a terrible mistake and stating he does not condone violence in any form.

Black expressed his deep affection for Tenacious D, calling it his favorite job and referring to the band as his 'baby.'

Black reiterated, 'We need to take a break. Everybody needs a break sometime,' during an interview at the premiere of 'Borderlands.'
