Crozer Health is set to close within the next 30 days, which will lead to significant disruptions in emergency services as ambulances are being turned away.

As of April 23, 2025, Crozer has begun rejecting ambulances, severely impacting patient transfers to nearby facilities, particularly Riddle Hospital.

In response to the closures of other facilities owned by Prospect Medical, Riddle Hospital's President, Shelly Buck, reported a dramatic increase in emergency department patients, with daily numbers rising from 90 to 155.

Patients, such as Tarik Graham, are experiencing disruptions in their care, as surgeries and follow-up appointments are being redirected to primary care physicians due to the closure.

Mayor Stefan Roots emphasized the financial strain on Chester, the only bankrupt city in the U.S., as it struggles to fund necessary ambulance services amidst these closures.

In light of Crozer's impending closure, Chester City leaders are urgently convening to address the loss of Crozer's ambulance service, which includes nearly 15 vehicles, and are actively seeking to hire a new service to ensure continued emergency response.
