A former Washington Township Middle School teacher, Ashley A. Fisler, 36, is jailed in Salem County on eight counts related to sexual misconduct with a minor, including six counts of first-degree sexual assault of a minor, one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of second-degree official misconduct.

The victim, now an adult, reported the alleged relationship in January, and investigators found text messages corroborating the sexual nature of the relationship.

Prosecutors say the unlawful relationship with a student occurred in 2021, with multiple sexual encounters in Fisler’s vehicle and in her classroom, supported by court documents and text-message evidence.

Prosecutor Andrew B. Johns praised the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victim’s Unit, High-Tech Crimes Unit, and Washington Township Police Department for their role in the investigation.

The district says Fisler is no longer employed there, having separated in April 2023, and she is cooperating with law enforcement as the case remains active.

The case involves a criminal complaint and ongoing legal proceedings as reported by WPVI-TV, the ABC affiliate.

The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office announced the investigation and charges.

Washington Township and Gloucester County officials say the district is cooperating with law enforcement while describing the matter as active and commenting only within limits.

Prosecutors credited the prosecutor’s office and local police for investigative work that led to Fisler’s arrest.

The investigation began after the victim disclosed the alleged relationship on January 23, 2026, with the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victim’s and High-Tech Crimes Units and the Washington Township Police Department leading the probe.

Fisler is jailed in Salem County awaiting a first-appearance hearing in Superior Court, scheduled for Friday.

These are accusations at this stage; Fisler is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
