LAUSD says it will continue weekend negotiations with remaining labor partners, SEIU Local 99 and the Associated Administrators of Los Angeles, to keep schools open on Tuesday, April 14.

Two other LAUSD unions, SEIU Local 99–Education Workers United and the Associated Administrators of Los Angeles, remain at the bargaining table, collectively representing about 30,000 support staff and roughly 3,000 administrators.

The district aims to finalize additional agreements over the weekend to ensure schools stay open on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

Details on LAUSD’s 2025-2027 Collective Bargaining Agreement with UTLA were to be provided as they became available.

UTLA President described the process as an 11-month effort with an 8-month democratic process, culminating in a win for UTLA priorities outlined in their Win Our Future contract demands.

Previously, the three-union pact had threatened a joint strike on Tuesday that could disrupt LAUSD’s 1,302 campuses.

UTLA announced the tentative agreement via Instagram, noting members still must ratify, and highlighting gains such as a flexible workday, smaller class sizes, and increased student-support staffing.

The proposed contract would raise salary scales by about 11.65% and lift the starting salary for teachers to $77,000 per year.

LAUSD reached a tentative two-year contract with UTLA on Sunday, addressing about 35,000 educators and proposing an 11.65% salary increase and a $77,000 starting salary.

LAUSD serves roughly 400,000 students daily; a dedicated negotiations website was launched to provide updates and resources on food distribution, mental health, child care, and tech support.
