A former FBI supervisory special agent, Patrick Steven Yaroch, has been charged with interstate transportation of stolen goods and receipt of stolen goods for allegedly moving nearly $1 million in cryptocurrency from wallets tied to FBI counterintelligence investigations into his personal control.

Yaroch told investigators he was “spinning out of control” and frustrated that the FBI would not or could not act against adversarial cryptocurrency accounts.

The FBI affidavit states Yaroch created a personal wallet, searched FBI systems for passphrases tied to adversarial accounts, and moved about $1 million into his own wallet between late 2024 and mid-2026, though he did not spend the money.

Prosecutors point to travel plans and power-of-attorney documents related to Portugal as part of establishing probable cause for arrest.
