Prosecutors allege Colbert and White ran a French Quarter operation that lured victims with sex and drugs, drugged them, and drained their bank accounts using stolen cards and phones.

Colbert purportedly operated as a prostitute or “party girl,” while White served as her security and helped commit robberies by drugging victims and stealing from their accounts.

Prosecutors say White led a larger scheme targeting men in the French Quarter, with Colbert and other women luring victims, drugging them, and taking their belongings; Colbert reportedly met Manzano on Bourbon Street and accompanied him to his hotel where he was drugged.

The trial concluded with Manzano’s family unable to attend, and representatives for Telemundo Kansas City and the man’s employer did not immediately respond to comment.

Neither Colbert nor White testified; the defense did not call witnesses, while Anderson testified after pleading guilty and agreeing to cooperate against Colbert and White.

Manzano’s death occurred about a year after his wife’s death in a car accident, leaving behind a toddler daughter.

Colbert and White are scheduled to be sentenced in late September following the trial.

Rickey White was convicted of racketeering but found not guilty of manslaughter; prosecutors had sought manslaughter charges for both defendants.

Colbert faced potential sentences of up to 10 years for negligent homicide and up to 50 years for racketeering, while White faced up to 50 years for racketeering but was acquitted of manslaughter.

White was convicted of racketeering; a co-defendant, Christian Anderson, pleaded guilty to lesser charges, testified for the prosecution, and received a six-year sentence.

A Jefferson Parish jury convicted Danette Colbert of negligent homicide and racketeering in connection with Manzano’s death in Kenner, during Super Bowl preparations.
