The seed round was led by Lowercarbon Capital with participation from NVentures, Radical Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, National Grid Partners, Amplo Ventures, Earthshot Ventures, Founders You Should Know Fund, Trust Ventures, and John Doerr of Kleiner Perkins.

Founder and CEO Varun Sivaram emphasizes the goal of unlocking substantial extra AI capacity by turning data centers into grid-enabled assets.

Commercial progress includes a May 2025 first commercial demonstration in Arizona showing real-time flexible AI demand to relieve grid strain, with results accepted for publication in a leading scientific journal.

In October 2025, Emerald AI teamed with NVIDIA, EPRI, Digital Realty, and PJM on the 96MW Aurora AI Factory in Virginia, creating a reference model for power-flexible AI infrastructure and expanding the Omniverse DSX Blueprint for optimizing gigawatt-scale AI factories.

In July 2025, Emerald AI joined President Trump and Senator Dave McCormick at the Pittsburgh Energy and AI Summit to discuss expanding AI investments through grid optimization.

The company stresses that expanding AI capability will require smarter energy demand and grid-aware AI infrastructure, backed by strong investors, commercial traction, and a growing global footprint.

Emerald AI raised an additional $18 million in a seed extension, bringing total funding to $42.5 million to accelerate turning AI data centers into flexible grid assets that adjust energy use for grid stability and resilience.

In September 2025, Emerald AI announced an international partnership with National Grid for the UK’s first live trial of power-flexible data center technology using the Conductor platform and NVIDIA acceleration.
