On March 9, 2024, police discovered 34 bodies at three locations of Legacy Funeral Directors in Hull and East Yorkshire.

A 46-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were arrested on charges including preventing lawful burial and fraud.

The bodies were moved to a Hull mortuary for identification, and a helpline has been established, receiving over 350 calls.

Legacy Funeral Directors has been in operation since 2010 and had plans to expand, according to their last website update in 2021.
