Participating countries beyond Belgium included Albania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Croatia, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Under the EMPACT framework, the Europe-wide SHIELD VI drive led to major seizures of illegal medicines and thousands of prosecutions, with Cyprus actively participating.

In addition to Belgium, participating nations encompassed Belgium’s neighbors and partners across Europe, spanning Central, Southern, Northern, and Eastern Europe.

A large, multi-country SHIELD VI operation conducted from April to November 2025 across thirty countries targeted counterfeit or falsified medicines, illegal doping products, supplements, and counterfeit medical devices, resulting in 3,354 prosecutions and 907 investigations opened.

Authorities coordinated across police, judicial, customs, and anti-doping agencies with support from Europol, OLAF, EUIPO, Frontex, Interpol, and the WHO-ATI, driving significant seizures and enforcement actions.

Cyprus contributed through its Police forces and Customs, resulting in the seizure of 6,753 pills, ampoules, and other anabolic products.

Overall seizures totaled about 33.2 million euros in illegal products, including 3.2 million counterfeit tablets and 916,000 vials or ampoules of medicines, plus nearly 4.6 million counterfeit tablets and around 1.2 million vials or ampoules of doping products.

Investigations highlighted public health threats, including counterfeit products containing semaglutide and other dangerous adulterants posing risks to consumers.

Authorities seized thousands of kilograms of powders and raw materials, along with over 120,000 packaging units for medical devices and dietary supplements, underscoring health risks from counterfeit items like semaglutide-based weight-loss products.

Authorities opened 907 cases, targeted 43 criminal networks, and initiated legal proceedings against 3,354 suspects as part of SHIELD VI.

Europol led the crackdown with backing from Interpol, Frontex, and the World Anti-Doping Agency, involving law enforcement from 30 countries.

The operation resulted in 3,354 prosecutions, 907 open investigations, five dismantled clandestine laboratories, 66 closed websites, and 4,186 inspections, plus over 11,400 anti-doping controls.
