Sword Health, a Portuguese unicorn, will supply technology to Brazil’s Unified Health System (SUS) to modernize and expand access to care.

Work is slated to begin early next year, with Sword and SUS teams outlining initial transformation projects and a clear implementation plan.

The project will design, test, and implement AI across SUS at federal, state, and municipal levels, including voice and text triage, intelligent queue prioritization, scheduling, clinical decision support, and prevention and promotion of health services.

The Minister of Health frames the partnership as a chance to develop AI tools and transfer knowledge to Brazil, tailored to local needs.

SUS serves more than 210 million patients, underscoring the scale and potential impact of the transformation.

This agreement builds on Sword Health’s prior collaborations with Greece and ongoing work in Portugal, the UK, and a partnership with Brazil’s Ministry of Health.
