Tesla launched FSD version 14 in October 2025, with the latest update 14.1.2 tested by Tesla owner Chuck Cook on a challenging unprotected left turn (UPL) in Jacksonville, Florida, during low-light conditions.

Over the past three years, Tesla has been steadily refining its FSD system through internal and external testing, with recent updates showing significant progress in handling complex scenarios like UPLs.

Tesla has acknowledged that unprotected left turns have been a persistent challenge for FSD since 2022, due to the difficulty in executing safe and smooth maneuvers.

Chuck Cook observed that Tesla's AI has made remarkable advances in managing complex traffic situations such as UPLs, emphasizing the importance of safety-critical systems.

He praised the system's ability to position the vehicle optimally for traffic observation and its smooth decision-making, which enhances safety and reliability in complex traffic patterns.

During the test, FSD v14.1.2 demonstrated impressive behavior, including precise median positioning, careful creeping at stop signs, and smooth navigation through heavy traffic without abrupt braking or pausing.

The only intervention during the test was due to a motorcycle with an unlit headlight, which Chuck intervened to ensure safety; otherwise, the system performed with high precision.
