Honda Australia expands the HR-V lineup with a new hybrid flagship, the e:HEV RS, priced from $44,400 driveaway, as part of a broader electrification push.

The RS joins the existing e:HEV range across three of four grades, making hybrid powertrains available beyond the L trim while the VTi X remains petrol-only.

In 2026, the HR-V gains the e:HEV RS flagship, reviving the RS badge and expanding the hybrid lineup.

Inside, the RS adopts a dark interior theme, with its upgrades mainly cosmetic over the existing HR-V e:HEV models.

Standard features include adaptive LED headlights, an electric tailgate, dual-zone climate control, Honda Connected Services, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Honda Sensing safety suite, and Google Built-In with post-collision braking.

Core e:HEV L features carry over or improve in the RS, such as adaptive high-beam LED lighting, electric tailgate, dual-zone climate control, an 8.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Honda Connect live services, and comprehensive safety systems including autonomous emergency braking and adaptive cruise control.

In Japan, where the HR-V is known as the Vezel, the e:HEV RS reportedly includes a 15mm-lower suspension and a sportier steering tune.

The RS uses the familiar 1.5-litre petrol engine with two electric motors (96 kW/253 Nm), front-wheel drive via an e-CVT, and a claimed fuel economy of 4.3 L/100 km.

The RS features sportier styling with gloss black trim, a black RS grille, 18-inch wheels, and red interior accents including stitching and trims, complemented by black synthetic leather and cloth upholstery.
