April 29, 2025
All chassis and components are manufactured in-house at Harbinger's facility in Garden Grove, California, allowing the company to maintain a vertically integrated process that controls costs and mitigates tariff impacts.
This innovative hybrid model features a gas-powered range extender that charges the battery, ensuring extended operational capabilities for commercial fleets.
Harbinger has partnered with Panasonic Energy as its official battery cell supplier, initially sourcing from Japan but planning to localize sourcing from Panasonic's new facility in De Soto, Kansas.
The announcement was made by Harbinger CEO John Harris at the ACT Expo 2025, where he emphasized the vehicle's versatility for various commercial applications.
Designed as a stripped chassis, Harbinger's platform is suitable for a range of medium-duty applications, including delivery vans, box trucks, recreational vehicles, and emergency response vehicles.
Harbinger has launched a groundbreaking plug-in hybrid medium-duty commercial vehicle that integrates an electric drivetrain with a gasoline-powered range extender, achieving an impressive range of up to 500 miles between charges.
Pre-orders for the vehicle are currently being accepted, with initial deliveries expected to commence in 2026.
The vehicle boasts impressive performance metrics, producing up to 1,140 lb-ft of torque and 440 horsepower, and supports rapid DC Fast Charging, allowing an 80% charge in just one hour.
It features a low-emission 1.4-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline engine, paired with an 800V generator and a 50-gallon fuel tank, with battery options available at 140 kWh or 175 kWh.
The in-house design, engineering, and assembly processes at Harbinger's facility contribute to lower costs and reduced uncertainties related to tariffs.
Customers will have the option to choose between the two battery systems, enhancing the vehicle's adaptability to meet diverse fleet needs.
This first-of-its-kind series hybrid vehicle is set to revolutionize medium-duty fleets by offering a unique combination of electric and gas-powered capabilities.
