Hyundai Launches HTWO Energy Savannah: Pioneering Dual-Energy Station for Zero-Emission Logistics
April 29, 2025
Phase one of the project focuses on creating a scalable Class-8 hydrogen refueling solution in collaboration with HTWO Logistics, HydroFleet, and Capital Development Partners.
Hyundai has announced the launch of HTWO Energy Savannah, the first dual-energy hydrogen and electric station designed to support heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles in the Savannah region, with operations expected to commence in late Fall 2025.
This initiative is part of Hyundai's vision for clean logistics, aiming to decarbonize emissions-heavy port operations and major logistics corridors in the area.
HTWO Energy Savannah is set to significantly reduce emissions from port operations and logistics corridors, marking a crucial step towards decarbonization.
Initially, the station will produce and dispense 1,200 kilograms of hydrogen per day, with plans to expand capacity to 4,200 kilograms per day as demand grows.
In phase two, the facility will introduce electric charging capabilities for commercial vehicles, further enhancing the zero-emissions ecosystem.
Located approximately 10 miles from the Port of Savannah, the facility will primarily serve Hyundai's new Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America, utilizing XCIENT hydrogen fuel cell trucks.
Industry leaders, including Scott Moe from HydroFleet, have highlighted this project as transformative for the heavy-duty trucking and hydrogen sectors, emphasizing the need for sustainable logistics infrastructure.
Des Carlisle, Executive Director of the Southeast Hydrogen Energy Alliance, commended the initiative as a model for public-private cooperation in developing zero-emission logistics and strengthening regional energy resilience.
Hyundai Motor America contributes $20.1 billion annually to the U.S. economy and supports approximately 190,000 jobs, reflecting its significant operations across the country.
Hyundai's vision for Clean Logistics will be supported by this hydrogen station, facilitating efficient transport of plant shipments within a zero-emissions ecosystem.
HTWO Energy Savannah will play a vital role in meeting the growing demands of the logistics sector while promoting sustainability.
