October 4, 2024
The Volkswagen ID. Buzz, an all-electric version of the classic Kombi, is set to launch in Australia later this year.
The ID. Buzz GTX is a sportier variant of the electric Kombi, featuring a powerful dual-motor setup that delivers 250 kW and 679 Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.4 seconds.
Standard equipment for the GTX includes seven seats, IQ. Light matrix LED headlights, heated seats, a nine-speaker sound system, and advanced safety features.
The ID. Buzz has received a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, with strong scores in both adult and child occupant protection, and comes equipped with standard safety features like autonomous emergency braking and lane-keep assist.
Volkswagen Australia offers a five-year unlimited kilometre warranty along with an eight-year warranty for the high-voltage battery.
Pricing for the ID. Buzz models is lower than expected, allowing buyers to avoid the Luxury Car Tax and potentially save on Fringe Benefits Tax.
Local pricing for the ID. Buzz has been announced, with the Pro SWB model priced at AUD 87,990, the Pro LWB model at AUD 91,290, and the GTX LWB model at AUD 109,990.
The ID. Buzz GTX offers competitive pricing compared to rivals such as the LDV Mifa 9 and Mercedes-Benz EQV.
The vehicle boasts a spacious interior with comfortable seating for up to seven passengers, along with multiple storage compartments designed for convenience.
The ID. Buzz LWB features a claimed 306 litres of cargo space with all three rows in use, which can expand to over 1000 litres when the third row is folded.
While the interior includes some hard plastic finishes, it also features upscale elements like ArtVelours microfleece seats and a 12.9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The ID. Buzz is equipped with a robust regenerative braking system and offers decent visibility from the driver's seat, although rear visibility could be improved.
