Ford has teamed up with TXU Energy to launch the TXU Free EV Miles program in Texas, which offers free home charging for eligible EV drivers.

The program allows Ford EV drivers to charge their vehicles at home for free from 7 PM to 1 PM the following day, providing an 18-hour charging window.

This initiative is aimed at reducing home charging costs for Texas customers and is available year-round, reflecting the state's growing trend in EV adoption.

Texas residents purchased more EVs than residents of 47 other states last year, indicating a significant shift towards electric vehicles.

Eligible vehicles for the program include the 2021 or newer Ford F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, Escape PHEV, and Lincoln plug-in hybrids.

With over 80% of EV charging occurring at home, this program can significantly lower energy costs for Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning owners.

Participants will automatically receive rebates for at-home charging that occurs during the designated free hours once they are verified and enrolled.

Upon enrollment, drivers will receive a total of $350 in bonuses: $100 from Ford and $250 from TXU for maintaining their enrollment for one year.

Ford aims to educate Texans about the benefits of electric vehicles through this initiative, which is being described as 'first-of-its-kind.'

This initiative is part of TXU Energy's strategy to promote EV ownership and enhance grid resiliency.
