April 29, 2026
The ID. Polo is VW’s affordable electric hatch aimed at expanding EV access, with German pricing starting at €24,995 and launch variants up to about €33,795 for higher-spec trims.
Two battery options are offered: a 37 kWh gross pack (up to 329 km WLTP) and a 52 kWh gross pack (up to 455 km WLTP), with three motor outputs—85 kW, 99 kW, and 155 kW—where the top power is only available with the larger battery.
Design and features include a 13-inch touchscreen, a 10-inch digital gauge cluster, physical climate controls, a central volume knob, mixed cloth interiors, and safety/tech options like blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a rearview camera, front-cross traffic assist, plus optional Harman Kardon audio, wireless charging, automatic traffic-light recognition, vehicle-to-load, and a 12-way power-adjustable front seats with massage.
Powertrain choices on an MEB+ platform include front-wheel drive with outputs of 114 hp, 133 hp, and 208 hp, and a future high-performance ID. Polo GTI at around 223 hp is planned for later this year.
Inside, the cabin emphasizes practicality and upscale materials, featuring physical switches for major controls and extensive fabric use on the dashboard and doors to enhance perceived quality.
The interior follows Volkswagen Pure Positive design with intuitive controls, modern digital displays, a retro display element, and ergonomic cockpit layout for ease of use and comfort.
Key tech and convenience include ambient lighting, 19-inch wheels, LED lighting, vehicle-to-load capability, and advanced driver-assistance such as Connected Travel Assist that can stop at red lights.
The coverage appears as part of a broader NDR Info program lineup, situating the story within current regional/national news updates.
The ID. Polo marks the first production model under Andreas Mindt’s Pure Positive design language, featuring a friendly front fascia and Golf-first-inspired C-pillar design.
Vehicle-to-load functionality supports up to 3.6 kW thanks to the MEB+ architecture.
Beyond the price and model name, the excerpt provides no additional technical specs or market dates.
Analyst commentary notes VW must balance cost reductions with delivering high quality to achieve required sales volumes for profitability.
