Ford Strikes Deal for EV Access to Tesla's Charging Network
February 29, 2024
Ford Motor Co. has reached an agreement with Tesla to allow F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E owners to use Tesla's charging network.
Owners can reserve a free Tesla charging adapter via the FordPass app until June 30.
This initiative makes Ford the first automaker to provide free adapters for Tesla charging stations, tapping into approximately 15,000 Tesla fast-charging plugs.
Ford will also release software for its EVs to be compatible with Tesla's charging infrastructure.
Starting next year, Ford's second-generation EVs will adopt Tesla's charging connector standard.
The free adapter offer applies to Ford EVs from model years 2021-2024, with a post-June 30 price of $230 for the adapter.
The collaboration is aimed at improving the charging experience for EV drivers by increasing convenience and addressing charging network issues.
