Tesla CEO Elon Musk has launched a one-month free trial of the Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology for U.S. customers.

The promotion led to a 5% rise in Tesla shares, amidst slower electric vehicle demand and rising competition in China.

Tesla's strategy is designed to boost sales and familiarize users with the FSD system.

FSD, which still requires driver supervision, is also available as a $199 monthly subscription, with the option to buy for $12,000.

Musk has made experiencing FSD mandatory for all North American employees and new customers, despite potential delivery delays.

The initiative aims to alleviate concerns about FSD's performance and promote its safety and benefits.
